Messin' with Miles

It's been so fun for us lately now that Miles is smiling and interacting more!

Caroline loves it. I know what your thinking and yes, the boy is huge! This picture exaggerates his chub just a bit, but sometimes I can't believe this is the same boy who started off sooo tiny!

I think his sweet smile is just so charming! The sure-fire ways to make him smile are "If you chance to meet a frown.." and fake sneezes. Works every time!

Haircut

I got a haircut this weekend! Here's the before:

And After:

Ok, so I've been wanting to do a style like this for a really long time, I was just too chicken. But Dave and a friend told me to just go for it, so I did!

In other news:

-Miles has some pretty terrible sleep habits. He will not sleep in a crib (or pack-n-play, bassinet, or anything intended for infant sleep) He will sleep in our arms or his carseat only. I intend to check out every baby book in the library this week and study!

-Caroline can tie her own shoes! We've been practicing off and on for a while and I think she's got it. It was so exciting the first time she did it by herself - it's funny how thrilling small firsts can be!

Preschool Graduation

Caroline "graduated" from preschool this weekend! I have always thought that these kind of ceremonies for 4 or 5 year olds were silly, but it made Caroline so happy that we were totally in to it!

The kids prepared a little singing program and it was so cute! Caroline's teacher told me one day after school that Caroline does so good at singing time and I didn't doubt it at all - our girl loves to sing and dance and put on a show. During the program Caroline did great. She knew all the words and sang every song and did all the actions with gusto!

Caroline and her teacher Ms. Jan. They really did this whole graduation thing big. Caps, gowns, sashes, even class rings! Yes, they gave each child a little "gold" ring that says 2011 on it and Caroline has been wearing with pride all weekend long!

We really enjoyed having Caroline in this school - we're all a little sad it's over. Now that she is used to going to school a few mornings a week, I'm afraid she's going to be so bored all summer long!

sMiles!

Blogger has been acting weird for me lately. I already posted these pictures but it's not showing up, so here's a second attempt!

Miles' smiles have been brightening up our home lately. When he smiles, the whole family hovers around him and starts the face-making and goofy baby talk to keep the grins going! We love it!

This last one just cracks me up! He looks like a jolly old fat man!

Mothers Day

I hate being late for church. And we usually are. I have a tendancy to blame this fact on everyone but myself, but last sunday it was entirely my fault that we walked in during the opening hymn. I wanted some mother's day pictures before hair was undone, clothes were wrinkled and dirty and patience was thin after 3 hours of sitting!

Me and my squishy. We've decided he has several different "looks" all depending on the position of his head at the moment: 1 chin, 2 chins, etc. :)

Me and my gal-pal. Caroline is sporting a new haircut this week!

Miles had a dr. appt this week. It was the fastest ever! The appt. was set for 9:30, but it's close to Caroline's school so I went right after I dropped her off at 9am. I got back in the car after the appointment and it wasn't even 9:30 yet! After so many dr appts for myself that have run 3 or more hours, this was an awesome surprise! The downside is that they didn't have his vaccines so we have to back next week for shots. I hate that part!

Miles is in the 75% for height and the 96% for weight! That's our big boy! He has been doing much better lately too, as far as crying. He spends much more time being awake and happy now and it's helped tremendously. He is starting to smile more, though not consistantly so it's hard to capture on camera, but I'll keep trying!

Play date and Zoo trip

This week Caroline had her friend, Lucy, over for a play date. They had so much fun together - it was really cute to watch. They both love the show "Wild Kratts" on PBS and were pretending to be the Kratt brothers, so I suggested they make some creature-power discs for their little game. (the Kratt brothers use their creature power discs to give them powers from whatever animal they're studying)

They loved it! We used safety pins and velcro so that they could change their discs for different animal powers. Caroline was a falcon and a crocodile and Lucy was a crocodile and a grizzly bear!

Speaking of Animals...

Caroline had a school field trip to the zoo this week that we were both really looking forward to. I don't have a zoo pass any more, so it's been a while since I've gone. It turned out to be a beautiful day at the zoo. If only it wasn't SO packed with school field trips!

Miles was not impressed with the Zoo...
