Her future is bright...

Caroline and I were listening to her primary songs cd in the car today. "I Love to See the Temple" came on and we had the following conversation:

C: Let's go to temple and get married, Mom!
S: I'm already married to Daddy! Someday when you get older you can marry a boy in the Temple, ok?
C: OK. ...(quiet for a few seconds)... Like when I'm a Susan?
S: Huh?
C: I go to temple when I get bigger and I'm a Susan?
S: (laughing, now realizing what she means) Well, yes, when you're bigger and a grown-up like Mommy you can get married in the Temple, but your name will still be Caroline!
C: Oh. And I'll have big feet?
S: What?!
C: Yeah, when I'm bigger and a grown up and I go to the Temple, I'll have big feet like you?
S: Do you want big feet?
C: Yeah!
S: Sure then, When you're big and have big feet like Mom, you can go to the Temple and marry a nice boy.
C: Yes!

I'm just glad she has something to look forward to in life :)

Our Week

Ms. Independent:

One morning last week while I was cleaning up from breakfast, I told Caroline is was time to get dressed soon. A few minutes later she came down dressed! By herself! I was so surprised because she usually asks for help with everything - even slip-on shoes! The outfit she chose was: blue Nike track pants, a pink and purple striped turtleneck and her black church shoes! Everything was rightside out (including clean undies!!!), but her pants were backwards. I was so proud I didn't change a thing but her shoes because they fall off too easily.


Block Party:

Friday night David was at a camp-out for the scouts and I was watching our nieces for the night. We decided to have a High School Musical 3 party and invited some kids in the neighborhood to join us. It was CRAZINESS at Susan's house with 7 kids under 7 years old! (Baby Britni is not pictured) The ONLY time they were all sitting was when I made them sit down to take a picture! But the kids had fun and I'm glad that Caroline has friends in the neighborhood she can play with.



Hockey:

Saturday night we went with some other families to a RiverKings Hockey game. They're a semi-pro team that plays at the arena just 10 minutes from our house. This was our first time and it was pretty fun!


This is Caroline's photography - not bad! She's been wanting to take a picture every time the camera is out. I'm thinking of getting her one of those kid-proof digital cameras for her birthday next year.

Not the most flattering picture of me, but the other two look so cute so oh well! We had a good time and let me tell you, Hockey is MUCH more enjoyable in person than on TV! Caroline was actually pretty good and LOVED all the music and lights and was dancing with her friend Rhylan most of the time (and eating snacks of course).

Caroline started coughing that night so Dave kept her home from church (which she was not happy about, and she was missed by her friends who asked about her!) When I got home, Dave and Caroline had made me lunch and colored me a beautiful picture! I also noticed that they had read her "Book of Mormon Stories" book and Caroline told me they sang Primary songs while I was good which made my day! Later, Caroline took a nap with Dave. She's always been a kind of Mom's girl, but lately has been asking for Dad all day long. She always wants to call him at work and she lights up when he comes home. I am more than happy to pass the torch!

Fun, fun, fun

Today was beautiful outside. We found ourselves at Target and bought every outdoor toy they had (ok not every one, but we might have gotten a little carried away)


Softball and glove, T-ball set, soccer ball, tennis balls for Archie to chase (mini ones. He has a tiny mouth!) Anyway it was just fun to spend time outside together. We've been lusting over having our own backyard for a few years, so we vowed to not take it for granted and to use and enjoy it to the fullest! - Now if only we could get that deck built we've been daydreaming of!


This week our mother's group went to the Botanic Gardens. Twice a month they do a preschooler activity and it was a lot of fun!


They decorated pots and planted flower seeds in them. (you have no idea how long it took me to get her to hold still, and look into the camera long enough to take this picture. Ok maybe you do - you have kids too)

They made little "bees" out of toilet paper rolls. Here is Caroline dancing around going "bzzz...bzzz...bzzz" I love how this captures some of her personality!

Caroline and her friend, Lucy. This picture makes Caroline look crazy-tall! Caroline is older than Lucy, but only by 8 months! (I guess when you're 2 and 3 years old, 8 months is a lot though!)

...and a random picture of my kids playing Guitar Hero. Aren't they cute? And before you go thinking Caroline is a gifted musician child, I should tell you she doesn't have a clue how to play. She just has fun pressing buttons and pretending. She does, however, know how to point her index and pinkie fingers in the air and yell, "Rock On!" Oh, the things we learn from Daddy!

"Emiwee's Ball-y Game"

Last weekend we went to watch our niece, Emily, play in a club volleyball tournament. (or as Caroline called it "Emiwee's Ball-y Game!") It's been fun to watch her progress over the last few months! She's gotten quite good and is, of course, one of the tallest girls on the team!


We all sported red shirts to show some team spirit. (Fuzzy pictures are the result of an old camera - not poor photography on Dave's part)

Caroline saw this as an opportunity to eat Aunt Joleen's CheezIts and soda and run around the gym with her cousins and some other kids she's never met.

I always find it so funny how kids make friends so fast at this age! They don't judge, they worry about what to say, they just walk up and start playing like they're dear old friends who've known each other all along!

Caroline also enjoyed the volleyball warm-ups and thought it was so funny they all kept saying "Mine! .... Mine!... Mine!" It reminded her of "Finding Nemo" :)

Not sure what to title this

It's been a while since I posted a funny-sleeping-position picture of Caroline. But the other day, we walked up stairs before going to bed and found Caroline at the top:

She brought out her pillow, blanket, and dog "Franklin/Clifford" (she calls him both names, just depends) out into the hallway to sleep! ... and she's holding a pair of wings? :) so random, this kid! We had no idea she was there for the last 2 hours!

Archie is getting bigger and it's fun to watch him attempt new things. He recently learned how to climb the stairs - but he won't try climbing down!

So he bounds up the steps and then once he realizes he can't get down, he starts to whine until I walk up and carry him down! Silly boy!

A Tale of 4 TVs

Once upon a time, a small family enjoyed watching programs together on this very television set:

The Daddy especially loved ESPN and the Mommy couldn't get enough of HGTV and the little girl watched lots of movies on the TV, seeing as this particular TV was special enough to have a DVD and VCR attached! What a lucky family!

Then one day, something terrible happened.

The little girl broke the special TV.

It was then decided that the smaller TV, which was in the little girls room at the time, was to be brought down to be enjoyed by the whole family:


This satisfied the family for a few days...somewhat. Afterall, buying a brand new TV was far too expensive and out of the question.

Then one fine day, the mommy went to a thrift store and found this BIG TV!


Oh happy day! The store attendant said it worked perfect and in fact, they just watched the weather on it the day before! "I'll take it!" said the Mommy. She gave the Thrift Store $70 and some nice workers put it in the car for her.

The mommy was very pleased with her purchase! With much difficulty and effort the Mommy and Daddy carried the very heavy TV into the living room and excitedly plugged the new, Bigger TV in!




... it did not work. Not even a little.

...it had a sticker on it that read: "No returns or exchanges on Electronics"

The Mommy was mad.

The Daddy was mad.

The Mommy called to see how much it would cost to repair the TV.
... the answer made the Mommy madder.

The house was sad. And full of broken TVs.

The Mommy cried.

The Daddy took the Mommy into his arms and said sweetly, "Let's go buy a new TV"

(The Mommy is now wondering if the little girl can make some sort of mistake so the Mommy can get a new car...)
