BDay Weekend Part 1: Dave

For Dave's birthday, my mom made him this great Indianapolis Colts grill apron set! (funny, you can see he was wearing a Colts shirt when the package came!)

We went to the zoo that morning as a family and it was great! It's nice when someone has a birthday on a Saturday!

Funny thing: these statues are of a couple whose names are "Carolyn and Jim! (my parent's names!) So here's a picture of Caroline and her grandparents!
This monkey was so funny. Dave always seems to be able to get the animals to react to him!

The biggest reason we went to the zoo for his b-day was because they just opened an exhibit about a month ago, and we hadn't seen it yet.

We were quite impressed. The "Teton Trek" has a huge gorgeous cabin/lodge, grizzly bear cubs, a pack of wolves, and elk.

The grizzly cubs were very playful and got up nice and close for the kids!

The whole area was so beautiful, especially among the fall leaves.

It was a wonderful day for my wonderful man. Really, I don't know many people who work as hard as Dave does and I can't think of anyone that's more deserving of a day off (or a vacation, and that's coming soon!) Happy Birthday to an awesome guy!

Stylin'

Dave gave Archie a haircut this weekend and he looks so different!

He did surprisingly well holding still, until I came into the room, so Dave banished me to the bedroom to read (darn;) until he was finished. I love the result!

The 3 little ones, all snuggly!

And Caroline and I had to take a picture of our trench-coats before church on Sunday.

I like her's more than mine! But now that she's shopping in the "big girl" section of the store, I often wish they had some of it in my size!

Halloween

Introducing...
SparkleBot2000!!!

Caroline wanted to be a robot. So we had to make it. She wanted to be a girly robot. So we had to get creative.

This costume was a real team-effort. We all pitched in. It's made of an old diaper box, spray paint, milk caps, dryer ducts, muffin cups, and lots of glitter.
Despite my attempts at making a cardboard box as comfortable as possible (it's padded and has elastic/velcro straps) Caroline couldn't sit, bend, or run in it, so it came off numerous times during the night!

SparkleBot and Princess Kiah
After our ward's Halloween party, we headed to the library just so Ms. Nettie, our favorite story-time teller, could see her!... ok we went for popcorn and games too.
Overall, Halloween was a success and lots of fun! Surprisingly, the constant rain we've been experiencing lately stopped for a day and gave us beautiful Fall weather for the holiday.
Coming soon... birthdays!

Last Week

Last Week We...

Made a fort under the kitchen table-

Got a haircut (Caroline's self-created bangs are concealed by a barette in this picture)-

Caught the dog and cat snuggling-

Had "Movie Night" -
(btw - the kitten's name is Gus.)

Met "Mulan"-
Our sweet friend Alayna (below with Caroline) directs a local children's theater. We went and saw their production of the musical Mulan. So Fun!

And carried out our annual family tradition of pumpkin decorating-
Carving is so overrated.
Our plan for this week? Finish a robot costume, make a lot of chicken noodle soup, conquer a fierce UTI, and have a fantastic Halloween!

Everday happenings

The following is a collaboration of everyday happenings in our house in no particular order and for no apparent reason.

Building "Barbie City"

Morgan can turn anything with buttons into a phone.
Caroline turns the camera on Mommy.
Morgan has decided that food just tastes better when Caroline feeds her.

Playing airplane.

Going for walks inside because it's raining...again.

Hanging out with friends in the front yard on a nice day.

One more can't hurt...

I know you probably think we're crazy. 2 Cats and a dog? But please, look at his wittle face!

We adopted a 5 week old kitten from the animal shelter on Saturday. I've been telling Dave "No,no,no" to getting another cat, but I just couldn't break his poor heart - He was smitten at first sight. (note to self: no more Saturday family outings to the animal shelter)

He has yet to be named. Dave and I never agree on boy names (so it's a good thing Caroline is a girl or we'd probably still be calling her "baby") So we've just been calling him "Kitten". Any suggestions?

Caroline carries him around all day. Between she and Dave he rarely has to use his legs. In this picture she's cradeling him like a baby and singing to him!

He's gotten more playful and it's pretty funny to watch him around the house. He and Archie play together which is super cute, but Sophie-Cat is... less welcoming.

I've actually been "nesting" since we brought Kitten home! I can't seem to stop cleaning this week. Vacuuming, dusting, organizing. I mean, I shampooed our couches, people.

He certainly has brought some joy and love into the house. He's cuddly and soft and sweet and has filled a little void. But hear me now, no more pets!

...unless we decide we need another puppy to even the score.
